I recently heard about Secunia.com and have found it very handy to use. It uses a free online scanner to scan your computer for any major programs that have security flaws and then gives you the site to download that latest version of that program. For instance, I found versions of Acrobat Reader and Adobe Flash player that were not up to date, and had security flaws. It also finds old versions of Java that are still on your machine. You should go to the control panel and "add/remove programs" to remove all of the Java programs except the latest one. Try it out and be up to date!
